This mini-album was recorded in October 2025 as the Gaza genocide and resistance endured. Totally improvised, the recordings arose from a particular moment and atmosphere, filled with uncertainty, expectation and steadfast hope. Like Palestine, the oud and buzuq are instruments inseparable from a wider region. This exploration of maqam (musical mode) is referential to traditions under threat, but which continue to speak. From the dead of night, glimmers of light emerge among the shadows. Like the sun, Gaza rises.
