Spring tour: building Irish-Palestinian musical links

In Spring 2026, Reem Anbar and Gazelleband renewed their links with Irish musicians, performing in northern England and Ireland with the inspiring and multi-talented Henry Girls, and deepening Palestine's musical connections with the emerald isle.

During this period of musical collaboration, Henry Girls vocalist and instrumentalist Karen McLaughlin came to Manchester for collective workshops. Karen and Gazelleband then took to the stage at Glossop Labour Club for a night of Palestinian and Irish music.

On the Irish leg of the tour, Reem and Gazelleband were hosted at the Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin, a multi-arts theatre and space for Irish culture in Derry. At Imbolc Festival, the band again shared the stage with the Henry sisters, in a week studded with local and international talent. A highlight was Reem's oud and harp duo with Jolene McLaughlin, in a unique version of the Palestinian anthem Mawtini.
